What am I up to now? Just watching the Rachel Zoe Project, "On Demand". I'm tired, but not so tired...a little amped from the quick trip to Soho taken earlier tonight by myself and fellow blogger Kareena (@Ispyarunway) to see the S/S '11 show from Kissed By Rain. I hadn't been to Soho in over two years (gasp!) so it was good to get back into the downtown groove. Either way, on to the show.... the pop up shop location was very nice, two floors, with the runway area being on the lower level after you walk in and through a crowd of hipsters taking photos, and munching on cold cut wraps and pink iced cupcakes.
Ms. Rain, who is the sweetest lil doll by the way...(she came out and personally hugged all of her supporters, as this event was invite only) started her show with a sweet mixture of separates as well as a good combo of volume and body conscious silhouettes. A noticeable color trend shown, I've even seen inside the tents, was the use of light romantic pastels like peach and mint green. (I apologize ahead of time for my bad photo quality. I'll try to have better photos up as soon as possible, hate the BB Cam, don't hate the user.)
Many looks had this feel, however there were equally opposite looks of bright fully sequenced tunic-like dresses, one shoulder body conscious dresses, interesting vests paired with high waisted swim-inspired panties, simple stripes (which was surprising considering her past lines consisted of more than an abundance of cool prints), and even a little mini skirt seemingly made from peacock feathers.
While individually each garment was pretty good, together they seemed to slightly lack cohesiveness. I would like to have seen a tad more unity in the order that the looks were shown, as well as how they were styled on the model. Yet, all in all, the garments were constructed well, and I know for sure that big things are to come for this BK based designer.
