10 Questions w/ Stevie Boi

Ok people. I recently was put on to an amazing new (well, new to me) young accessories designer, Stevie Boi, who's eyewear collection's are pretty dope to say the least. They've already caught the eyes (no pun intented) of some of the industries most popular: Teyanna Taylor, Yung Joc, Dawn Richards/DirtyMoney, and even Snooky from MTV's Jersey Shore. Stevie Boi's shades are made from a funky mix of plastics, fabric, and metals, and yes, you can still see through them; they have an 80% visibility ratio in fact....(although it's dark in the club anyway, and you know that's probably where you're going to want to wear them, lol ) Either way, this designer creates pieces that you'll definitely want to show off, not only as a cool addition to an outfit, but as a true piece of art.

Stevie Boi was nice enough to give StyleSkinny the inside on where he gains his design inspiration from, what's currently blasting through his headphones, and where he sees his career going in the future....

1. What album or song(s) is on the top of your play list right now?

M.I.A, Kelis. Grace Jones, & Jill Scott

2. You said in your online bio, that you gain inspiration from the “fluidity of art.” Where are your favorite places to visit to gain art inspiration?

I love sitting in my studio! My studio holds lots of odd materials I use to create glasses! That usually inspires my train of thought.

3. Is there a fashion trend that you love at the moment?

No.

4. Who was your favorite artist (Dirty Money, New Boys, etc.) to work with or design for?

Pretty simple, they go hard for SB Shades and I love them all! I usually ask them three questions: Favorite color, Favorite shape of eye-wear, Are you sure you want to sign over your life to my shades lol.

5. If you were told you were adopted, who would you hope your biological parents were?

Grace Jones.

6. What is your favorite pair of shades from your most current collection?

In my most current collection, which is Malibu Stevie, [my favorites] are the "Malibu Stevies" It takes me 8 hours to make them! They're covered in real swarvoski crystals etc.

7. If you could only choose one pair of shoes to wear for the rest of your life, which ones would they be?

CowBoy Boots. and I do wear them quite a bit.

8. If you weren’t designing shades what would your dream job be?

Making music, touring the world, and showing art is music and music is art.

9. Are you considering expanding your line to produce clothing?

Yes of-course I slowly do it in every collection.

10. If you had your own reality show, what would it be titled?

Well I have a couple: "Dont you just hate StevieBoi" "StevieBoi(o)" "The Life Of SB" or "Who the F^*k is Stevie Boi" Obviously I would get canceled before you're able to read those titles! :)

Love Love LOooooove. Check out neonfix.com. They did the makeup for the malibu stevie promos and for the drumknock shoot. Talented people bring me joy!
